Kodaikanal is located in Dindugal district and is a good hill station in Tamil Nadu. It is accessible by road from the nearby cities of Madurai and Palani. This hill station was first founded by a British and then as time went many houses and buildings were built up by the British. Then it was converted into a tourist location in the 20th century. The climate of Kodaikanal is very pleasant all the year round but most of the tourists pour into the city during the flower festival organized in the summer season. The Lake in Kodaikanal is situated in the heart of the city of around 24 hectare and surrounded on all the sides by road that is about 8kms distance. Horse rides and cycling are the best ways to go round the Lake. They are available in plenty near the Lake. Near to the Lake is the Bryant Park well known for the flower show. There are a lot of flora varieties in the Park. The Coaker’s walk was founded by Er.Coaker in 1872 that is now well developed. There is a telescope set up for tourists to view the beautiful landscape below. The famous temple on the hill is the Kurinji Andavar temple dedicated to Lord Subramanya from where the Palani hills can be viewed. Other places of interest on the hill are the Berijam Lake, the Pillars rock, the Silent valley view, the Chettiar Park and the Observatory.
